Name That Tune

Giving up. Below are the the answers for the other seven lyrics.

Keeping this on top for a while in hopes of getting some more folks to play along. Samurai Frog, the only guesser this far, got two.

A fun meme stolen from the Samurai Frog. iPod on random, I post a lyric, you guess the song! I will only put up ten of these though, because . . . well, because I'm lazy. Guesses in the comments!!

1.
Jonathan Larson - "La Vie Boheme," from Rent
To hand-crafted beers made in local breweries
To yoga, to yogurt, to rice and beans and cheese
To leather, to dildos, to curry vindaloo
To huevos rancheros, and Maya Angelou

2.
Stephen Sondheim, "First Letter," from Passion
Clara, I cried
Imagine that, a soldier who cries
I had to hide my eyes, so the others on the train
That carried me away from you
Would think I was asleep

3.
Bob Dylan, "A Simple Twist of Fate," from Blood on the Tracks
They sat together in the park
As the evening sky grew dark
She looked at him and he felt a spark
Tingle to his bones.
Twas then he felt alone
And wished that he'd gone straight

4.
"Can't Stand Losing You" - The Police
I guess this is our last goodbye
And you don't care, so I wont cry
But you'll be sorry when I'm dead
And all this guilt will be on your head
I guess you'd call it suicide
But I'm too full to swallow my pride

5.
Howard Dietz and Arthur Schwartz, "Rhode Island Is Famous for You"
Copper comes from Arizona
Peaches come from Georgia
Lobsters come from Maine
The sweet fields are the wheat fields of Nebraska
And Kansas gets bonanzas from the grain

6.
Norman Stiles and Christopher Cerf, "Put Down the Duckie," sung by Ernie and Hoots the Owl
Excuse me, Mr. Hoots
I hate to bug a busy bird
But I want to learn the sax
And I need a helpful word
I always get a silly squeak
When I play the blues

7.
Stephen Sondheim, "Waiting Around for the Girls Upstairs," Follies
Hearing the sound of the girls above
Dressing to go on the town.
Clicking heels on steel and cement
Picking up the giggles floating down through the vent
Goddamndest hours that I ever spent

8.
"An Cat Dubh, U2, Boy
And in the daylight
A blackbird makes a violent sight
And when she is done
She sleeps beside the one

9.
"Type" - Living Colour
We are the children of concrete and steel
This is the place where the truth is concealed
This is the time when the lie is revealed
Everything is possible, but nothing is real

10.
"Oh, What a Circus!" - Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice (sung by Mandy Patinkin) - Evita
Sing you fools, but you got it wrong
Enjoy your prayers because you haven't got long
Your queen is dead
Your king is through
And she's not coming back to you

Until Whenever

I know two of them. 4 is a favorite, "Can't Stand Losing" by The Police. 10 is from Evita, "Oh, What a Circus." Which version is it you're playing? Just out of curiosity, I like most versions of Evita.

Original Broadway Cast, with Mandy Patinkin. Only recording I have of that score, actually - recommend any others?

Unless I'm seeped in them, I almost never get these. But #9 is Living Colour.

Time Rice? One of your famous typos! Anyway, I fgave up and checked. I often don't get U2 lyrics, and while I have rent, I never heard those lyrics. But I shoulda gotten the Dylan.

I am without guess.

I'd recommend the original London cast version, with C.T. Wilkinson as Che. It's more rock opera-esque, like the original version of Jesus Christ Superstar.

And, of course, I like Antonio Banderas's voice...

I like Wilkinson; I'll have to give that a try. And I've yet to find a better Superstar than that original concept album.
